Key messages
- Large clinical trials have demonstrated that use of either real-time continuous glucose monitoring (rtCGM) and intermittently scanned continuous glucose monitoring (isCGM) is superior to SMBG.
- The CORRIDA study is the first prospective, randomized study to simultaneously compare rtCGM versus isCGM use in adults with type 1 diabetes and normal awareness of hypoglycemia during both exercise and at-home conditions.
- Use of rtCGM was superior to isCGM in reducing hypoglycemia and improving time in range.
- Findings provide guidance to physicians when discussing monitoring options with their patients.
