Key messages

  • Viral infectious skin diseases including molluscum contagiosum, condyloma acuminatum, and herpes simplex are easy to diagnoses due to special characteristics apparent under dermoscopy.
  • Fungal infectious diseases include tinea capitis, white piedra, tinea pedis, onychomycosis, tinea cruris, tinea corporis, pityriasis versicolor, Malassezia folliculitis,Talaromyces marneffei.
  • Phthirus pubis was observed at all life cycle stages, namely translucent empty nits, nits containing nymphs, nymph and adult phases within a single field of view.
  • Using UV-dermoscopy, it is possible to trace a live Demodex folliculorum wandering at the rosacea skin surface of nasolabial folds.
