What does this study add?

  • Of the 100 participants, 66 were randomized (33 to exenatide XR and 33 to placebo).
  • Mean BMI was 37 kg/m2 and mean age was 16 years.
  • The % change in BMI from randomization to Week 52 was 4.6 in the exenatide XR arm and 10.1 in the placebo arm (treatment difference -4.1 kg; p=0.078).
  • There were no significant differences between groups considering absolute changes in weight or BMI.
  • There were no significant changes between groups on blood pressure or heart rate, and no significant changes in laboratory parameters.
  • The most common adverse events were diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting.
